Spencer Beckman serves as the Director of Development and Communications for the Community Legal Center. He is an adopted Memphian who received his Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies and Religious Studies from Rhodes College in 2019, where he had the opportunity to serve as the college’s Student Body President and Trustee. He is also a graduate of the Fogelman College of Business and Economics at the University of Memphis, where he received a Master of Business Administration in 2022.
Professionally, Spencer worked several years with the Memphis Grizzlies Foundation helping to connect Memphis children to local mentors and the GrizzFit health promotion program. Following his time with the Grizzlies, Spencer served in a multiplicity of roles within the Community Engagement, Clinical Quality, and Development teams at Church Health supporting the organization in its efforts to provide high-quality, affordable access to health care for the working uninsured of Memphis. He is a 2021 recipient of the Memphis Flyer’s 20 Under 30 award, a 2022 recipient of the University of Memphis’ 20 Under 30 award, and serves in an appointed capacity on the Shelby County Mayor’s Planning Committee and volunteers with the Rhodes’ New Alumni Council and Christian Brothers University’s Career Advisory Board amongst numerous other groups throughout the Memphis community.
Spencer is passionate about helping underserved populations access affordable, high-quality legal services. Whenever he is not advocating for the work of the Community Legal Center, he is likely celebrating all things Memphis.
