Melissa Hamilton is the Community Legal Center’s Lead Civil Staff Attorney. She received her law degree from The University of Missouri School of Law in Columbia, MO, and her Master of Social Work and Bachelor of Arts from Washington University in St. Louis. Melissa comes to the CLC with vast experience in nonprofit work.
Before she began practicing law, Melissa spent much of her career in community development and grantwriting for organizations such as Urban Strategies, Inc., in St. Louis and the Women’s Foundation for a Greater Memphis. Her legal background includes working as an attorney for the Department of Children’s Services and Memphis Area Legal Services. Melissa also served for a number of years as a Guardian ad Litem for the Juvenile Court System in multiple jurisdictions.
